Brit Suttell works in the Washington office of Barron & Newburger, P.C. They are a member of the firm’s Consumer Financial Services Law Practice Group.

About

Brit brings a unique perspective of having grown-up in the debt collection and consumer financial services industry as Brit’s father started his own debt collection law firm in the 1980’s. Brit is a proud third-generation attorney.

Experience

Prior to joining the firm, Brit was a shareholder at Burton Neil & Associates, P.C., where Brit served as Director of Compliance. Brit is experienced in the creation, implementation, administration, and training of policies, procedures, and compliance management systems, including auditing such systems, and facilitating law firm audits by national banks and other clients in the financial sector. Brit has also been actively engaged in navigating interactions between clients and state and federal regulators. In addition to this experience, Brit is a strong litigator defending clients against various consumer protection law claims. Brit has substantial familiarity with multiple consumer financial protection laws, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Telephone Consumer Protection Act, and Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Brit is a current member of the National Creditors Bar Association’s board of directors, serves on the Legal Advisory Board for the Consumer Relations Consortium, and is a past-President of the Pennsylvania Creditors’ Bar Association. Brit is a frequent speaker at programs sponsored by the National Creditors Bar Association, ACA International, RMAI, Pennsylvania Creditors’ Bar Association, and Accounts Recovery.

Awards & Recognition

In October 2020, Brit received the prestigious Donald Kramer Award from the National Creditors Bar Association which is awarded to “someone whose efforts have made a substantial and lasting impact for the benefit of the credit and legal collection community.”

Personal

On the weekends, Brit can often be found fishing in the summer, playing table-top board games with their family and friends, watching Star Wars, or cheering on any Seattle sports team. Brit lives with their wife and two sons in Seattle, Washington.
