Cassidy Chivers is a shareholder of Barron & Newburger, P.C. and is a co-leader of our Attorney Risk Management Practice Group. Cassidy is the leader of our Mill Valley office.
About
Cassidy specializes in counseling lawyers and law firms on all aspects of ethics and risk management. With over 20 years experience in defending lawyers and law firms in civil and disciplinary matters, Cassidy has a deep appreciation of the risks her clients face.
Cassidy is the co-leader of our risk management program, Attorneys Risk Management, which offers risk management and ethics advice to lawyers and law firms nationwide. She also serves as outside general counsel for a number of California law firms, ranging from small partnerships to AM Law 50 firms, advising on a wide array of law practice management, ethics and regulatory issues, including conflicts review protocols, engagement agreements, law firm formation and dissolution, succession planning, lawyer and staff wellness programs, among other aspects of the business of law that are critical to a law firm’s success and longevity.
Awards & Recognition
Cassidy was recently appointed by the State Bar of California’s Board of Trustees to serve a four-year term on its standing Committee on Professional Responsibility and Conduct (COPRAC), commencing in September 2021. COPRAC addresses matters involving professional ethics to facilitate compliance by licensees with their ethical duties, by drafting advisory opinions on issues of professional ethics, studying and recommending changes to the Rules of Professional Conduct, and sponsoring educational and outreach programs.
Cassidy is a State Bar of California Certified Specialist in the area of Legal Malpractice Law.
Cassidy is a regular speaker and contributor to various publications on risk management and ethics issues.
