Experience

Francesca A. Di Troia has a wide range of litigation experience litigating constitutional, insurance, consumer, and tort cases across Texas. She also handles appeals and advises clients on complex discovery issues. She has authored briefs in the Texas Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Before joining Barron & Newburger, Ms. Di Troia was an Assistant Attorney General in the Office of the Texas Attorney General representing governmental agencies in tort, employment, and constitutional cases. She frequently presents on discovery, consumer, and civility issues.

Awards & Recognition

Francesca is an adjunct professor at the University of Texas teaching consumer law and trial advocacy. She recently published Texas Discovery:A Practitioner’s Guide to Taking and Resisting Discovery Under the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure. She is on the Board of Directors for the Youth Justice Alliance, a non-profit dedicated to supporting high school legal clinics, growing fellowship to serve larger cohorts of aspiring first-generation lawyers, and working to democratize the law. Since its inception, Francesca has been actively involved in the Barbara Jordan Inn of Court and has served in a variety of capacities on the Board of Directors.

Francesca is a frequent writer and speaker on issues of consumer law and discovery issues in litigation. Her most recent significant presentations are the following:

Personal

Francesca is a 6th generation Texan. She is also a black belt in Judo. In her spare time, she can be found at the University of Texas School of Law coaching mock trial teams and mentoring young attorneys.
