Mitch Williamson is of counsel to the firm and practices in the New Jersey office of Barron & Newburger, P.C. He practices in the firm’s Consumer Financial Services Law Practice Group in both New York and New Jersey.

Experience

Mr. Williamson has over twenty-five years of business litigation experience, and his clients include creditors, debt buyers, law firms, and collection agencies. Prior to joining Barron & Newburger, he served as in-house defense counsel for a multi-state law firm, defending a wide variety of suits by consumer plaintiffs. Prior to working in the consumer financial services sector Mr. Williamson represented several insurance companies in large-scale environmental coverage actions. His experience also includes professional malpractice claims, broker-client disputes, and defense of toxic tort claims. Prior to attending law school, he worked as a photojournalist in the U.S. and Israel.

Mr. Williamson is a frequent lecturer and commenter on developments in consumer protection law relating to debt collection. He served as a member of the Board of the National Creditors’ Bar Association, and he is a past Co-Chair of the Defense Bar Committee of that organization. He currently serves as the New Jersey Chair for the ACA International Members Attorney Program (MAP).

In addition to holding an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale Hubbell, Mr. Williamson has been designated as a Fellow and Scholar from ACA International and a Certified Receivables Compliance Professional by the Receivables Management Association.
