Robert Shannon Joins Barron & Newburger, P.C.

Robert “RJ” Shannon, a talented bankruptcy counsel has joined Barron & Newburger as an attorney in its Austin Office. RJ will join the firm’s Bankruptcy and Reorganization practice group, where he will focus on business reorganization and bankruptcy litigation.

For the last three years, Mr. Shannon has represented debtors, committees, trustees and creditors in bankruptcy litigation, and out-of-court workouts, and distressed acquisitions. Prior to beginning his practice, Mr. Shannon served as a law clerk for Bankruptcy Judge Tony Davis in the Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Texas. Prior to that service, Mr. Shannon was the law clerk for Judge Glenn Harrell, the senior judge for the Court of Appeals of Maryland.

“RJ is a talented attorney who will provide important experience and insights to our bankruptcy group,” explained Stephen Sather, a shareholder and member of the firm’s board of director who practices in the firms Bankruptcy and Reorganization Practice Group. “Barron & Newburger is committed to finding creative solutions to complex legal and financial problems through a combination of negotiation and litigation.”

Mr. Shannon is a summa cum laude graduate of Towson University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. He earned his Juris Doctor Degree cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School. He is licensed to practice law in Maryland and Texas and in the U.S. District Courts for all districts in Texas and Colorado and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. He grew up on a
250-year old tobacco farm in Southern Maryland and was the first member of his family to attend college.
