Nabil Foster is a shareholder of Barron & Newburger, P.C. and is the leader of the firm’s Illinois office.

About

For the last twenty years, Mr. Foster has represented a variety of debt purchasers, consumer and commercial collection agencies as well as law firms in complex litigation involving issues relating to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and related claims under state laws.  Additionally, Mr. Foster has developed training for his clients, instructing them in proper and innovative compliance practices. His litigation background includes defense of civil rights, professional liability, and product liability litigation.

Experience

Mr. Foster is an Adjunct Faculty Member at the Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, teaching in its trial advocacy program  and its legal ethics program.  He serves as the Vice Chairman of the Ethics Committee for ACA International.  He is a frequent speaker at industry educational events.

Mr. Foster also provides guidance to attorneys through risk management and ethical consultations.  He enjoys speaking about the practical application of the Rules of Professional Conduct at continuing legal education (CLE) events.

During law school, Mr. Foster served a series of clerkships including with the Public Corruption and Special Prosecution Unit of the United States Attorney’s Office, District of Massachusetts, the United States Attorney’s Office, Northern District of Illinois and the Enforcement Division of the Securities and Exchange Commission Regional Office in Chicago.  Also, while in law school, Mr. Foster served as the Business Editor for the Journal of International Law and Business. In addition, he was Vice President of the Black Law Student Association.

Mr. Foster currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for GlobeMed, an organization dedicated to working with grassroots leaders to improve global health.

Prior to his legal career, Mr. Foster designed and consulted on logistical operations and procedures for transportation companies. In addition, he trained to be a chef in Europe.

Awards & Recognition

Mr. Foster as been a speaker at conferences held by Receivables Management Association International (RMAI) and the Association of Credit and Collection Professionals (ACA International) about topics concerning risk abatement, appellate issues and professional standards applicable to the receivables management industry.

Personal

Mr. Foster speaks French and enjoys traveling.
